The African Gray Parrot is perceived as the best mimic in the Parrot world. They’ve been kept as family pets for millenia and were particularly valued by the traditional Greeks and Romans. The African Gray is categorized into two subspecies, the Congo African Gray and the Timeh African Gray , which differ in physical appearance. Both have feathers of grey with sophisticated shading and spots of white.
The Congo African Gray is the bigger of the 2. The plumage is light grey and they have got a dark, red tail and a black beak. The Timeh African Gray is smaller with darker grey feathers, a maroon tail and a lighter coloured beak.
In natural habitats, the African Gray Parrot eats often fruit and nuts with some leafy foliage.
